ABOUT ESTONIAN SCHOOL OF HOTEL AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT

The_locals_author-Andreas_MeichsnerEstonian School of Hotel and Tourism Management EHTE is a private school, providing applied higher education in Tallinn, Estonia. The mission of EHTE is to train skilled, professional and highly motivated employees for hospitality, catering and tourism service.

 

Tourism is regardless the overall economic slowdown the leading industry both in Estonia and in the world. This makes studying tourism not only trendy, but also wise regarding the future employment perspective. Our students can find placements during their studies and after their graduation a job can be found easily anywhere in Estonia, Europe or the rest of the world.

 

Estonian School of Hotel and Tourism Management was founded in 1996 by the Estonian Hotel and Restaurant Association, the Estonian Association of Travel Agents and the Estonian Hotel School Ltd. At present the school is run by the EHTE Ltd.

 

There are more than 300 students at EHTE - over 200 are students of the applied higher education curricula and about 100 study within the vocational education programs.

 

EHTE is the only tourism education institution in Estonia fully focused on tourism and hospitality both in the context of applied higher and vocational education in tourism, accommodation and catering sectors.

 

EHTE differs from other educational institutions in the same field in Estonia, in particular in terms of its close links with the business community and the entrepreneurs. Also the lecturers and teachers are involved in the daily linkage with the business sector.

 

EHTE Campus - a four-storey study building at 19 Puuvilla Str. in Tallinn with ample parking and easy public transport connections with the city - has a modern study environment. The Campus is a few tram stops away from the Tallinn city center and the Old Town. Students can either rent flats for a reasonable price nearby Campus or a room in Stroomi Hotel for a very reasonable price. A white sand beach is located in a short walking distance from the Campus (and the hotel).

 

In 2001 EHTE signed a partnership and cooperation contract with Haaga Institute in Finland and in 2004 with Motherwell College in Scotland.

 

As a result of the new partnership agreement graduates of EHTE can soon acquire the famous Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) bachelor’s degree after taking a one year extra course in English at EHTE. The course has been prepared according to the MMU International Hospitality Management BA degree program.

 

EHTE also maintains cooperation with Savoy Educatsional Trust (Europe’s oldest Hotel chain), an educational fund called as Formation pour la Fondation Hoteliere, situated in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

From 2005 EHTE is a member of European Hotel Schools Union (AEHT), European Hotel Schools Association (EUHOFA), Hotel & Catering International Management Association - HCIMA, EuroCHRIE and other international organizations.

 

In September 2011 EHTE was honoured to co-host 50th EUHOFA International World Congress.

 

EHTE is a member of Estonian of Hotel and Restaurant Association (EHRL); Estonian Association of Travel Agents (ETFL), Association of Estonian Tourism Education (ETHL), cooperates with Estonian Chef Association (EPÜ), Estonian Waiter and Catering Service People Association (EKEL), colleges and vocational schools.
